The daffodils are out and Spring is officially started, but there’ll be a sting in the tail of winter, according to weather forecasters.
For Britain could well be set for one final chilly blast of Arctic temperatures this week, with snow sweeping across the country.
However, because of Bristol’s own little sheltered weather bubble, it is unlikely snow will reach the city, with plenty of the white stuff over Wales, the Midlands and the south coast, but little except a few flurries over Bristol.
According to the forecasts at WX Charts, a large weather front will have a big band of snow on its leading edge, as the wet weather sweeps in from the Atlantic, meeting up against the cold air from the frosty nights we’ve been having.
Towards the back end of this week, more than 20cm of snow could fall in the Midlands, with temperatures still way down below average for this time of year.
Snow in March is unusual, but not that unusual - one of the biggest 'Snow Days' we’ve had in recent years in Bristol was at the start of March in 2018, when Storm Emma struck, the city ground to a halt under six inches of snow and the buses didn't run for four days.

There aren’t any weather warnings yet in place, with the longer range forecast predicting snow at the end of this week and into next week.
The Met Office said that the weather fronts coming in at the end of this week will be, for the south west at least, very wet but mainly mild.
“There will be showers or longer spells of rain during Friday and Saturday and it will be windy at times,” said a Met Office spokesperson.
