U.S. Not Planning Evacuation Flights For Americans In Lebanon

The United States is currently not planning to send evacuation flights to rescue Americans stranded in Lebanon amidst escalating conflict with Israel. According to sources, the State Department has estimated that there are approximately 86,000 Americans residing in Lebanon as of 2022. The conflict has seen Israel's military conducting limited ground operations within Lebanon, specifically targeting the Lebanese terrorist group Hezbollah.

Last week, the U.S. Embassy in Lebanon issued a warning to American citizens in the country, advising them to secure any available flight tickets as the number of departing flights diminishes. The embassy also recommended that U.S. citizens who opt not to leave Lebanon should prepare contingency plans for emergencies and be ready to shelter in place for an extended period.
