Tyla's perfect living room artfully incorporates the biggest luxury trend of 2024

Tyla.

Everyone knows that Tyla's Met Gala gown by Balmain was a masterpiece, but we're convinced that the South African singer-songwriter's home is an equal work of art. So far, we've only gotten a glimpse of her living room, but that's enough.

A dark brown color scheme featuring beautiful, dark-stained wooden walls defines the rising star's space. Beneath the swaths of wood, a clean-lined, contemporary fireplace contrasts the more organic elements in Tyla's living room. Details like the warm leather seating and an abstract vase add inviting warmth. Underneath the seating, base lighting further brightens the room.

Aside from simply being gorgeous, Tyla's space taps into one of 2024's most popular interior design trends: natural wood. We've spotted this look in some of our favorite celebrity homes: from Blake Lively's living room to Michelle Pfeiffer's kitchen to Victoria and David Beckham's bedroom, it always looks warming and chic. Now, Tyla continues the movement.

But what's so appealing about this rustic decor idea? Jennifer Ebert, color expert and digital editor at Homes & Gardens says it has psychological benefits. Ebert states: 'Natural wood makes us feel connected to the outdoors and the natural world. This organic feel is instantly calming and grounding. The tranquility of the material makes it a timeless statment that will never go out of style.'

Furthermore, natural wood can be easily styled to create a comforting and beautiful look. Katie Thomas, founder of KTM Design refers to the popular living room trend as 'cabin core'. She adds: 'The use of natural, raw materials such as wood and rattan will add earthy tones which create a homely feel. These natural materials also have varying textures which adds depth to your home to create a layered look. You can add further layers by using alternative materials such as stone or leather for an industrial take on ‘cabincore'.

For those hoping to recreate Tyla's industrial 'cabin-core' look in their own homes, Thomas recommends: 'An earthy color palette should be used to complement the colors found within nature with browns, greens and oranges.'

She continues, 'Lighting is key to creating a cozy interior. Warm colored lights should be used over white light, to fulfil a ’cabin core’ aesthetic. Furniture such as a worn leather sofa compliments the ‘cabin core’ lounge perfectly. Accessorize it with soft cushions and throws and complete the room with a thick rug beneath a rustic wooden coffee table.'

Natural wood effortlessly compliments any interior design style, and the look is especially beautiful in Tyla's industrial-chic living room. We can't wait to see more of this look as it grows in popularity.
