Initially reported as a gas leak, the situation quickly escalated into a devastating explosion that resulted in the loss of two lives and injuries to several others. The explosion was so powerful that it displaced at least 12 families in the area.
Authorities were alerted to the gas leak outside the home on Arthurs Woods Drive, but before they could respond, the situation turned into a full-blown house explosion. The Baltimore Gas and Electric Company had been made aware of the gas odor in the area prior to the tragic incident.
