Tourists can be seen screaming in terror as they plunge underwater in terrifying new footage of a boat capsizing.
The shock internet clip shows the Angy boat sinking off T ortuga Bay in Ecuador's Galapagos Islands on Sunday in an incident which left four people dead.
One of the deceased is understood to have been a US citizen, while the others are reported to be a Colombian and two Ecuadorians. Two people are also missing, according to authorities.
The boat was travelling across the sea near Santa Cruz Island when it began taking on water after running out of fuel, leading one man seen in the video to desperately attempt to bail it out with a small bucket.
Panic then descended as more seawater began to enter the ship, with people on the board heard yelling for help.
The boat capsized shortly after, with high waves later suggested to have finally sent it under.
Initial reports suggest that the majority of the 38 passengers were not wearing lifejackets, while one source claimed the boat was only intended to hold a maximum of 25 passengers.
One survivor, a 26-year-old from Malaga named Estefanía, has since recalled the moment her friend Ana realised the boat was sinking.
She told her local newspaper Diario Sur: “Ana suddenly said "we're sinking!". We were on the top and we climbed down as best we could to the bow, which was the only part above water,” she said.
"Everyone was in shock, I was throwing them life-jackets, buoys, floats, everything I could find which might help them,”
She also revealed that she had asked for lifejackets before the boat set off, but had been told that they were still drying out at the port.
A Navy spokesman said two crew members, including the captain, fled the scene after the boat was brought to the shore. He blamed the capsizing on poor decisions by the captain and crew.
