A TORY MP has accused the BBC of trying to make Boris Johnson “look like Hannibal Lecter” in a bizarre on-air rant.
During an interview on Newsnight, Adam Holloway held up graphics of the Prime Minister used by the BBC show in an effort to suggest it was biased.
The Conservative was on the show to defend his party leader, who survived a no-confidence ballot on Monday evening by 211 votes to 148.
Holloway told Newsnight that the rebels were causing “great damage to the reputation of politics”.
He added: “And it should also do damage to organisations like the BBC.
“This programme I am on now were showing pictures of him looking like Hannibal Lecter at the beginning.”

Fictional serial killer Hannibal Lecter is the creation of novelist Thomas Harris. The character has been played on screen by Brian Cox and Anthony Hopkins.
When the presenter replied “oh come on”, Holloway displayed his printout and said: “Ok, I can show you here. Look at that! He’s got razor blades.
“I mean, does that guy look like someone who has, you know, been given a birthday cake or someone who, you know, has been locked up for something at the Old Bailey?
“I mean, this thing has been blown totally out of proportion and actually we should be thanking this man.”
Following the no-confidence ballot, Johnson insisted he had secured a “decisive” victory despite 148 of his own MPs voting to oust him, arguing the Government could now “move on” and focus on what “really matters to people”.
He also poured cold water on the prospect of a snap election, saying he was “certainly not interested” in the idea.
