TKorStretch was 'caring, good-humoured and intelligent' student, says teacher

The teacher of a Bristol rapper who was killed in London after the Notting Hill Carnival has paid tribute to him. The 21-year-old was stabbed an hour after the end of the carnival on Monday, August 29, and the Met Police have launched a murder investigation.

Tributes have been flooding in for Takayo Nembhard, who was on the cusp of breaking a major music career and had big label interest. The talented rapper's partner, Oshian Edwards, was among those to pay tribute to him, pledging to remind their unborn baby son about his father as he grows up.

Mr Davey, head of house at Sir Bernard Lovell Academy, has been the latest to pay tribute to him.

The teacher said: "As a caring, good-humoured and intelligent student, Takayo was an excellent House Captain for SBL, liked and respected by both staff and students.

"In 20 years of teaching, I can think of few students who have left a more positive impression than Takayo. I, as his former teacher and Head of House, and we as an Academy, are deeply saddened by his passing."

Hundreds of people have donated thousands of pounds to help the partner and unborn baby of Takayo - who was better known as rapper TKorStretch. His death has devastated his friends and family - his parents took the trip from Bristol to west London to lay flowers at the scene of his murder near Ladbroke Grove station last Friday, four days after he was attacked.

Within hours of the fundraiser being set up, it had topped £6,000 in donations, with Mr Patrick, TKorStretch’s manager, pledging that all the money raised will go to Takayo’s father Vincent, to help Oshian and their baby.

Mr Patrick told Bristol Live that TK’s murder had not yet sunk in. “I’ve experienced the deaths of people close to me in family before, but this is of a whole different magnitude for everyone involved, his family, his friends. You go through daily emotions and it’s so hard. Even writing the words for the GoFundMe page took me a couple of days and when I read it back, I broke down with uncontrollable tears,” he said.
