TikToker lost 18 stones and stays trim with the help of these Asda ready meals

A weightloss coach who was morbidly obese for most of his adult life is sharing his tips after dropping 18 stones. Neil Scurrah ditched his calorie packed meals for a low-calorie diet.

And it helped him halve his 36st 10lb bodyweight - and gave him the skills to help others shed weight. Now he maintains his weightloss while also sharing his tips to help others who are struggling with their own weight on his TikTok account @the.real.loss.boss.

According to the Daily Record while the 41-year-old isn’t against indulging in a takeaway occasionally, he still sticks to a weekly calorie deficit. He joked with his followers: “Nice on the lips doesn’t go straight to the hips, and bread doesn’t make you fat.”

To stay motivated and lose half of his body weight Neil said: “ [I've] built long-term habits into my lifestyle that I'm happy with for the rest of my life.” However, he says that “there will always be an element of willpower as well”.

And his latest advice is to take a look at what is available on the shelves of your local Asda store to help slimmers on their weightloss journey. And with his suggested ready meals he says these are ideal for the time when we "need a little bit of convenience in our lives."

Neil, who says he was “existing not living” before overhauling his lifestyle in 2013, says the convenient fixes will stop you “diving for those high-calorie takeaways”. In one of his latest videos, he heads to Asda to share some of the best low-calorie ready meals on offer. The meals are all well under 450 calories, which Neil says can “fit into anyone’s calorie allowance”.

Neil tells his followers: “The Real Loss Boss is at Asda and I'm going to take a look at some low-calorie ready meals. Because sometimes we need a little bit of convenience in our lives, without always diving for those high-calorie takeaways.”

The first ready meal Neil reaches for is The Gym Kitchen’s Piri Piri Chicken, which totals 344 calories. The meal for one costs £3.75 at Asda, and is relatively low-fat and low-sugar.

Neil’s second choice is Asda’s Good & Balanced Honey and Ginger Salmon salad. The ready-to-eat bowl comes in at 422 calories, and costs £3, or two for £5.

Next is Asda’s High In Protein Chicken and King Prawn Paella, which is 442 calories and costs £3.25. Neil recommends bulking out the ready meals by adding salad or extra vegetables.

Neil’s fourth choice is a Weight Watchers’ ready meal, Bolognese Bake, which comes in at only 230 calories. The meal costs £2.75.

Another ready-to-each option is Asda’s Good & Balanced Tomato and Prawn Linguine, which is just 291 calories. The meal costs £3, or two for £5.

For something, more hearty Neil recommends Asda’s Lamb and Colcannon Mash which totals 338 calories. The meal costs £2.75, or 3 for £6.

If you’re looking for a takeaway fix, surprisingly Sharwood’s Chicken Chow Mein from the freezer section comes in at just 274 calories. It costs £1.50.

Also in the freezer section is Asda’s Calorie Counted Cottage Pie, totalling 243 calories. It costs £1.60.

Last but not least is Neil’s favourite - the Asda’s Roast Chicken Dinner. The meal comes in at 449 calories, and £2.75.

The weight loss coach began struggling with his weight at just nine years old and was morbidly obese for most of his adult life before shedding the weight. Neil adds: “The world can be a very cruel place when you have a weight issue. When I realised how amazing life could be when you're a healthy weight it just became my passion to help others with weight issues achieve what I have.”

For those struggling with self-control, Neil said: “We can do a couple of things to gain or learn self-control when it comes to eating. Firstly don’t over-restrict yourself.

“Cutting out all the foods you love for long periods will trigger massive cravings. There are no bad foods or foods that make you fat. Some foods just contain more calories than others and for these foods, we need to be more mindful to control our calories and for our health.”

He adds that eating “a diet high in protein and fibre will help to suppress your appetite and help control and stabilise blood sugars, which in turn can help with cravings, especially for sugary foods”.
