Lorraine added: "There was a huge reaction to that in America." Alison said: "It was a huge reaction but the only thing is now when I go to America they straight away say 'Alison, just do the laugh'.
"Well, make me laugh then. You've got to be funny for me to do the laugh, I don't just do it easily. But what a lovely thing to be remembered for."
Speaking about her book, she explained that it tells the stories of other people. She said: "There's footballers in there, politicians, musicians, poets, you name it. This is the one book that is not about Alison Hammond, you'll be happy to know. I'm not in this book, it's not about me. This is the one book where it's about other people's legacies and making sure that legacy is alive and it lives on."
She emotionally added: "If my mum was alive right now, this would be the moment where she would be really proud of me. My legacy is obviously my big laugh - that's going to go down in history."
