Fans of the Benedict Cumberbatch-era Sherlock will soon have a new themed game to experience, as the team behind Sherlock: The Official Live game launch a spin-off, designed with Sherlock’s nemesis in mind.
The Mind of Moriarty: Live Escape Experience is set to launch early next year in Shepherd’s Bush. Lasting 100 minutes, the game is an escape room experience where players attempt to defeat James Moriarty, the criminal mastermind professor portrayed by Andrew Scott in the BBC series. Tickets for the game will go on sale on November 30.
The Mind of Moriarty is billed as an immersive experience, with players — between two and six — wearing virtual reality headsets as they attempt to crack clues and solve puzzles. The headsets will play some of the most famous scenes from Moriarty’s appearances on the show, including his stealing of the crown jewels, his trial and the Reichenbach Fall episode.
Matt Watts, the experience’s general manager, said of the opening: "We are incredibly excited to launch The Mind of Moriarty: Live Escape Experience next year, especially after having such great success with Sherlock: The Official Live Game.
“In the new experience, we will be pushing boundaries and storylines even further with the use of virtual reality and digital media, allowing players to immerse themselves inside the experience and travel into the devious mind of Moriarty! Offering players the opportunity to step into Sherlock’s shoes and be transported to iconic scenes from the BBC series, The Mind of Moriarty provides a moment of true escapism.”
