The organisers behind the National Lottery have brought in a new rule to prevent a repeat of the near-six month wait for a top prize winner.
A total of 63 draws were done before Saturday's 'must-win' offering which saw a player in Castlebar, Co Mayo scoop the record-breaking €19.06 million jackpot.
The prize had been capped at that level since September 29, with the last jackpot winner before then coming in the first week of June last year.
The 'seemingly unwinnable' jackpot faced criticism from the public and politicians, leading to bosses introducing the 'must-win' aspect for last Saturday's draw.
And on top of that, a new stipulation has been introduced.
A National Lottery spokesperson explained: "In addition, the National Lottery will operate the same 'will be won' event going forward, with Lotto jackpots guaranteed to be won no more than five draws after the cap has been reached."
The Castlebar player has created history by becoming the largest Lotto jackpot winner in the history of the game in Ireland.
The National Lottery has also stated that it is still waiting to hear from the winner of the mega jackpot prize, and it continues to encourage players in the town to check their tickets.
The details of the winning store will officially be revealed on Wednesday morning.
The lucky ticket holder smashed all kinds of records when they managed to match their ticket to the winning numbers of 02, 09, 16, 30, 37, and 40.
It was the first ever 'must-win' draw in the history of the Lotto.
As the Lotto jackpot was capped at €19.06 million, the funds from Saturday night’s draw that would usually go to the jackpot flowed down to the next highest tier at which there was a winner.
The incredible ‘Will be Won’ event saw 149 winners at the Match 5 + Bonus tier who shared almost €5.5 million and they will now claim €36,687 each.
