As the cost of living crisis continues there have been many hacks, suggestions and advice on how to keep the bills down. Now a top-rated builder has recommended an £18 item which will help to slash the bills.
Buying loft installation and insulating your loft could help you save money on the heating. Darren McGhee, who owns DMG Services and was crowned as Screwfix Top Tradesperson in 2019, has said that installation is easy to buy and install meaning you can do it yourself, as Manchester Evening News reported.
Costing just £18.60 at B&Q the installation roll is a cheap way to help during the cost of living crisis. You can buy the installation role here. Speaking to the Sun, Darren said: "Fitting insulation in your loft space is the best way to stop heat escaping from your home - and it's also pretty cheap. Anyone can do this, you don't need to be a tradesperson."

He added: "You can buy insulation from all local builder merchants or retailers such as B&Q and Wickes." Retailer B&Q also say the product is easy to install.
They said: "An eco-friendly alternative to traditional glass wool insulation, this recycled plastic insulation from Diall is comfortable to work with and is completely itch-free. It is extremely easy to lay and comes in handy-sized rolls to fit many existing rafter spaces."
The product has received some great reviews online, with many rating the product with five stars. One person said: "Easy insulation to work with, nice and soft to handle and doesn’t agitate."
Another said: "Loved it for ease of installing in my undercroft, so underneath the floor. Used a cheap staple gun where necessary, and only took a day to complete... Hopefully, will help this winter, fingers crossed." A third five-star reviewer wrote: "The moment I finished laying this product I instantly noticed a major and significant difference! The cold draft was gone and the warmth was kept in - which has lowered my heating bill!"
