Tesco has recalled a protein product amid safety concerns. It has urged anyone who has bought some packages of its Active Whey Protein not to eat them.
Instead they are advised to return them for a full refund. The move comes amid concerns there may be pieces of metal in the product.
The Food Standards Agency said: "Tesco is recalling Tesco Active Strawberry Flavoured Whey Protein and Tesco Active Chocolate Fudge Flavoured Whey Protein because they may contain small pieces of metal, making them unsafe to eat."
It added: "If you have bought any of the above products do not eat them. Instead, return them to the store from where they were bought for a full refund, no receipt is required. If you would like any further information, please contact Tesco Customer Relations on 0800 505 555."
The batches which are affected are:
- Tesco Active Strawberry Flavoured Whey Protein - 500g. Batch code 1049765 13. Best before May 31, 2024
- Tesco Active Strawberry Flavoured Whey Protein - 500g. Bartch codes 1050673 09, 1050673 10 and 1050673 11. Best before August 31, 2024
Tesco Active Chocolate Fudge Flavoured Whey Protein - 500g. Batch codes 1049767 10 and 1049767 11. Best before May 31, 2024
In a notice to customers Tesco said: "Please do not consume these products and instead return any affected product to store where a full refund will be given. No receipt is required.
"Tesco apologises to our customers for any inconvenience caused. If you require further details, please contact Customer Services directly on 0800 505 555."
