Tesco, Morrisons, Waitrose and Holland & Barrett recall food products over health and allergy concerns

Food products have been recalled by Tesco, Morrisons, Waitrose and Holland & Barrett over health and allergy concerns.

The Food Standards Agency has issued alerts on a variety of items, including pasta, seeds, biscuits and pizza ingredients.

The watchdog will issue recall notices when a product is unsafe for customers to consume or could cause harm to someone with allergies.

LancsLive reports that the FSA said some of the latest products may contain nuts and seeds which were not declared on the label.

Others may have been contaminated with salmonella, which can cause fever, diarrhoea and abdominal cramps.

Anyone who has bought one of the items listed below should not use or consume them. Instead, return them to the appropriate supermarket on their next visit.

Usually, a receipt of purchase for a product which has been recalled is not needed for a refund.

Here are the full details of each product:

Pasta

Waitrose is recalling Waitrose Prosciutto Cappelletti and Waitrose Essentials Cheese and Smoked Ham Tortelloni because of undeclared pistachio (nuts).

This means the products are a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy to pistachio (nuts).

The product details are:

Waitrose Prosciutto Cappelletti

Pack size: 310g

Used by: 20 February 2022 and 21 February 2022

Allergens: Nuts (pistachio nut)

Waitrose Essentials Cheese and Smoked Ham Tortelloni

Pack size: 300g

Used by: 20 February 2022

Allergens: Nuts (pistachio nut)

The FSA said: "If you have bought any of the above products and have an allergy to pistachio (nuts) do not eat them.

"Instead return them to the store from where they were bought for a full refund. For more information contact Waitrose Customer Care on 0800 188 881, Option 4."

Seeds

Holland & Barrett is recalling Holland & Barrett Hulled Sesame Seeds because salmonella has been found in the product.

The product details are:

Holland & Barrett Hulled Sesame Seeds

Pack size: 125g

Best before: September 2022

Biscuits

Pullin’s Bakery is recalling Pullin’s Bakery Stilton & Fig Relish biscuits because they contain sesame seeds which are not mentioned in the ingredients list.

There is a warning on the pack that sesame seeds are used on site but on this occasion, sesame seeds have been used as an ingredient in the product.

This means the product is a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy to sesame.

The product details are:

Pullin’s Bakery Stilton & Fig Relish biscuits

Pack size: 155g

Best before: 05 March 2022, 12 March 2022, 19 March 2022

Allergens: Sesame

The FSA said: "If you have bought the above product and have an allergy to sesame, do not eat it.

"Instead contact Pullin's Bakery on 01934 833995 or by email at info@pullinsbakery.co.uk with the batch details for a full refund."

Pizza

Supermarkets including Tesco, Aldi, Morrisons and Sainsbury’s are continuing to recall several pastry and dough products after salmonella was detected.

The warning has been issued for ready-to-roll raw pastry and dough products made by Bake Away.

A total of 17 products have been recalled, including supermarket own-brand items and Pizza Express dough and Galberts pastry.
