Tesco has axed popular Clubcard deals on sweets and chocolates - and shoppers are furious about it
The supermarket is no longer offering its three for £1.20 promotion on chocolate bars.
The deal included favourites like Kinder Bueno, Yorkie and Bounty, with the bars normally costing between 60p and 70p each.
Tesco has also ditched another promotion, a three for £1 deal on bags of kids’ sweets such as sugar shrimps, bananas and dolly mixtures.
Shoppers have reacted with outrage on social media over the axing of the popular deals.
One person tweeted: “Actually in complete shock that Tesco have stopped doing the £1 for three bags of sweets deal.”
Another said: “Tesco doesn't do the 3 sweet bags for £1 deal anymore, smh [shaking my head] cost of living crisis has gone mad.”
A third tweeted: “Pleaaaase bring back 3 for £1.20 chocolate and 3 for £1 strawberry laces I miss my sweet treats.”
A fourth said: “It’s just an outrage that Tesco is no longer 3 for £1.20 on chocolate bars. This is what we call a cost of living crisis.”
Another said: ”Tesco appear to have stopped their 3 chocolate bars for £1.20. This has been a staple of my working life. Cost of living crisis has finally broken me.”
Tesco has been contacted by comment by The Mirror.
It comes as new legislation that cracks down on junk food being promoted in supermarkets and retailers come into force this month.
Every major retailer including Asda, Aldi, Lidl, Morrisons, Tesco, Sainsbury's and M&S has had to make changes when it comes to products that are high in fat, salt and sugar (HFSS).
Such items can no longer be placed in shop entrances or next to checkouts – known as high priority areas – in England.
A further ban on multibuy deals on HFSS foods – such as buy one get one free – has been delayed until next October due to the cost of living crisis.
But Tesco said it would bring in the multibuy ban this month anyway.
