Tesco and Waitrose issue urgent product recalls after nuts and salmonella found

Tesco, Waitrose and Holland & Barrett have issued product recalls urging customers not to buy pasta, seeds or pork scratchings.

Waitrose is recalling Waitrose Prosciutto Cappelletti and Waitrose Essentials Cheese and Smoked Ham Tortelloni because of undeclared pistachio nuts.

Meanwhile Tesco is pulling Snaffling Pig Perfectly Salted Pork Scratchings from the shelves because salmonella has been found in the product.

The bacteria has also been found in Holland & Barrett Hulled Sesame Seeds prompting another product recall, reports Liverpool Echo.

Customers who have bought any of these items are advised not to eat the product and instead return it to the store from where it was bought for a full refund.

Safety warnings were issued by the Food Standards Agency (FSA) in relation to specific products from all three supermarkets.

The FSA shared information on why the products have been recalled and what customers should do if they have bought them.

Shoppers are urged to check their cupboards and fridges for the following products which might have been contaminated with salmonella or contain undeclared nuts.

The Waitrose recall refers to 310g packs of Waitrose Prosciutto Cappelletti and 300g Waitrose Essentials Cheese and Smoked Ham Tortelloni.

Affected products have sell by dates between February 20 and 21, 2022.

The FSA warns that the pasta is a possible health risk for anyone allergic to pistachio nuts.

Tesco's recall of Snaffling Pig Perfectly Salted Pork Scratchings was made after salmonella was found in the product.

This relates to 45g packs of pork scratchings with a best before date of June 11, 2022.

Symptoms caused by salmonella can include fever, diarrhoea and abdominal cramps

Holland & Barrett's recall relates to 125g packs of its Hulled Sesame Seeds with a best before date of September 2022.

All supermarkets selling these products will display point of sale notices in their stores to inform customers.
