Teenager accused of North Terrace stabbing murder charged with assault at Adelaide youth detention centre

A Victorian teenager charged over a murder in the Adelaide CBD has allegedly assaulted a youth detention worker.

The man, who cannot be identified because he was a youth at the time of the alleged murder, faced the Elizabeth Magistrates court accused of injuring a staff member at the Adelaide Youth Training Centre.

The staff member was taken to hospital with facial injuries on Sunday.

The now 18-year-old did not apply for bail and has been moved to an adult prison.

He was in custody charged with the murder of Ngor Bol on North Terrace in the early hours of Anzac Day.

Police alleged Mr Bol was stabbed and stomped to death after fleeing a knife fight between two rival youth gangs.

Prosecutors have sought to have the man – who was just shy of his 18th birthday at the time of the alleged murder – tried as an adult.

Under the Young Offenders Act, a youth charged with a major indictable offence or someone who poses a risk to community safety can be dealt with as an adult.

The matter returns to court in October.

Police have arrested more than 17 people over the alleged fight on North Terrace, including a second Victorian man – Thocrial Agoth — also charged with Mr Bol's murder.
