A 15-year-old girl was rushed to hospital with serious injuries after an incident involving an XL bully-type dog. Police in Port Clarence are asking members of the public to not approach the dog if they see it.
As part of an appeal, they have now issued a picture of the animal as they try to locate it. Officers say they are combing the area looking for the animal, described as an "XL bully-type" dog, aged between four and five years old reports Teesside Live.
A Cleveland Police spokesman said: "Police are warning members of the public not to approach a dog after an incident where a teenager suffered injuries in Port Clarence. A 15-year-old girl suffered serious injuries and was taken to the University Hospital of North Tees following an incident in the Port Clarence area this evening, Monday 29 May.
"Her injuries are not believed to be life-threatening at this time. Officers are in the area currently searching for the male dog (pictured) which is described as an ‘XL Bully’ type dog and aged 4-5 years. We would urge people not to approach it, should they come across it."
The full nature of the incident - which took place on Monday, May 29 - has not been shared by Cleveland Police. But officers say the girl was taken to the University Hospital of North Tees.

Anyone who spots the dog is asked to immediately dial 999. They are being asked not to approach the animal. Should anyone have any information on its whereabouts, they are being asked to contact Cleveland Police quoting incident 103512.
