Teacher quits job to become stay-at-home girlfriend for Scottish Love Island star

A young teacher quit her job to become stay-at-home girlfriend for a Scottish Love Island star.

According to the Mirror, Summer Hawkins, 28, says she first started talking to the former Love Island contestant, Biggs Chris, on social media before agreeing to meet in a nightclub.

Sparks flew between them and just after five months together, Biggs asked Summer to move to Scotland with him. She says he offered to take care of her and cover all costs for everything whilst she stayed at home.

Now living in Glasgow, Biggs takes care of the bills, petrol and parking tickets, as well as treats such as designer items. In return, Summer cooks whatever he likes, cleans the house daily and even gets his shower ready for him.

Briggs rose to fame after he appeared on Love Island South Africa back in 2020.

She said: "Every morning without fail I get up before my boyfriend Biggs and turn the shower on so it’s nice and hot for him when he gets in.

"Then I make him a hot chocolate and he tells me what he wants for breakfast. Whatever he wants, he gets, whether that’s chicken and rice or an egg sandwich.

"After giving him a kiss goodbye as he heads off to work, I begin my cleaning routine. I start in the lounge, then do the kitchen, the bedrooms and finally the bathroom.

"I’ll spend the afternoon doing errands like walking our dog, Prince, shopping, going to the gym or getting beauty treatments. I have my eyelashes done every two weeks, my nails every three weeks, and the odd sunbed.

"There aren’t any firm expectations from either of us. If one day I haven’t done the laundry he won’t mention it – and he never makes a big deal about the fact he pays for everything.

"Women fought to vote, to work and to have choice. This is my choice, and I love my life."

Summer assures that her boyfriend does show his affection by 'occasionally cleaning his own plates'. He also lavishes her with gifts, often bringing home flowers, chocolates and teddies.

Appreciating the hard work she puts in, the former teacher says he thanks for her for 'making the house a home.' And while Biggs takes care of everything financially , as well as the 'manly' things, the former teacher does admit he can sometimes feel 'a bit like her son sometimes'.

But despite what others may think, Summer insists she wouldn't have it any other way and would never take advantage of the situation.

She added: "If we’re going out together he’ll transfer me money to buy a new outfit. I wait to see how much he gives me and then I stick to that budget.

"I never want to seem like I’m using him. I’m reliant on him, but I don’t mind that.

"We’re a team. I don’t have a single stress in my life, so when Biggs is stressed I can give my complete attention to him. It can be lonely as he works up to 10 hours a day and at weekends sometimes.

"I wouldn’t complain to Biggs because he’d tell me to get a job and that’s not what I want. I could go back to teaching but I don’t have the desire."

However, while the stay-at-home-girlfriend (SAHG) is content, she admitted that her family weren't initially sure of her moving to Glasgow and giving up her career, with her mum labelling her as a '1950s housewife'.

But now after seeing how happy she is, Summer says her family are on board and supportive with the couple now focussing on the the future with talks of marriage and starting a family together. She says she wouldn't mind if her daughter became a stay-at-home girlfriend like her.

She continued: "I was put on this earth to be a mum.

"If we had a daughter, I wouldn’t mind her being a SAHG as long as she had a nail tech qualification or something in case they broke up.

"We’ve even talked about her being the partner of a footballer."

Despite Summer's happiness, relationship expert Anna Williamson has warned those in similar situations to be careful. She advises women to carve out separate roles for themselves and their partners so they feel equally valued and can avoid red flags like codependency or financial abuse.

Anna said: "On the surface it seems like bliss. But it’s a potential breeding ground for power struggles.

"There’s nothing wrong with just one partner working, but there needs to be clarity, respect and independence at all times for both. With no access to money it can make it much harder for these women to leave the relationship.”

Anna Williamson appears in the new series of E4's Celebs Go Dating, which starts on Monday November 28. See therelationshipplace.co.uk for video coaching plans on boosting self-esteem and relationship red flags.
