Tea room and events plan for Nottinghamshire 17th century farmhouse and barns

Plans have been unveiled to turn a 400-year-old Notts farmhouse and barns into a tea room, museum and events space.

The owners are seeking permission from Broxtowe Borough Council for the proposals at Greasley Castle Farm, between Watnall and Moorgreen.

They are hoping to subdivide the farmhouse, in Church Road, to create a tea room on the ground floor.

Further proposals have been put forward to repair and covert traditional barns into a museum, function space and craft workshops making it the "foremost event venue" in Nottinghamshire.

Giving an additional insight into the future development, Greasley Castle Farm's website states: "We soon hope to provide a wide range of event venues in Nottingham for a variety of different occasions.

"We work closely with clients to choose a venue that is the best fit for their event and also meet their taste. Give your event the glamour it deserves with one of our venues today.

"The venue can cater for a wide range of different types of events, from live showcases, auditions, shows and concerts to conferences, presentations and fundraisers.

"Our space is versatile and our expert events staff can transform the space to suit your vision."

Sarah Seaton, project manager, said: "The farmhouse is 17th century and one of the owners of the site lives there.

"It is not open to the public at present but if planning is passed we hope to turn the site into a community hub.

"A cafe will be on-site and we are hoping to develop a joint project with Jill Carter from Pulp Friction which supports adults with special needs in work.

"We're hoping to have a function room and workshops for local people at reasonable rates plus a small museum with an attached learning centre.

"It's all subject to planning and funding. There is no figure for the work at this moment as it includes lots of different projects. Work will be done in stages starting with the renovation of the farmhouse and a temporary cafe."
