Taste of Sprite to change in shake-up as 'irresistible' recipe unveiled

Sprite has announced a recipe shake-up that will see the popular drink come with a brand new 'irresistible' taste.

Coca Cola, which owns Sprite, this month unveiled the changes which will see the popular mixer and summertime drink offering an enhanced crisp lemon-lime flavour. The new flavour will apply to both Sprite and Sprite Zero Sugar.

However, the update will also make it easier to differentiate between the two as Sprite Zero Sugar is set to have a lighter taste profile.

And taste won't be the only thing setting the two drinks apart as there will be a roll-out of new packaging designs. While both will feature an iconic and bold look, they will be easier to differentiate on shelves with the updated design introduced across PET bottles, cans and multipacks.

"Sprite has enjoyed solid growth over the past 12 months and our latest activity is designed to build on that momentum," said Martin Attock, Vice President of Commercial Development at Coca-Cola Europacific Partners GB.

"This year’s marketing campaign is letting Sprite’s renowned refreshment cues do the talking and is perfectly timed ahead of the summer season, when Sprite’s refreshing qualities make it a popular choice.

"We’re confident that the great new taste and bold new look will be a hit with existing Sprite lovers and new consumers alike, helping to drive sales for our customers."

The news comes after Coca Cola axed tropical soft drink Lilt after almost 50 years on shelves. However, they said that the recipe will remain as the soft drink is relaunched under the Fanta brand.

Fanta Pineapple & Grapefruit launched last month and will offer the taste that fans 'know and love', according to the fizzy drinks giants.
