Supercomputer hands Leeds United enormous survival boost after Nottingham Forest six-pointer

Leeds United now have a 90% chance of staying in the Premier League following their 2-1 win over Nottingham Forest last night according to data analysts at FiveThirtyEight.

Goals from Jack Harrison and Luis Sinisterra ensured the Whites jumped five places in the league table and out of the bottom three to 13th, two points clear of the drop zone.

And now FiveThirtyEight suggests that Leeds have just a 10% chance of ending the season in the relegation zone under Javi Gracia - the lowest statistical chance they've had all season.

The previous lowest chance FiveThirtyEight had given Leeds was a 13% chance back in August following their win over historic rivals Chelsea at Elland Road.

Elsewhere around them, Southampton and Nottingham Forest have both seen increases to their chances of relegation as they now have a 77% and 66% chance respectively.

Bournemouth's win over Fulham at the weekend saw their chances of dropping into the Championship go from 54% down to 43% while Leicester's losses to Crystal Palace and Aston Villa, as well as the decision to part ways with Brendan Rodgers, have seen their chances go from just 13% all the way up to 31%.

Leeds are predicted to finish 14th on exactly 40 points - often referred to as the golden target to secure Premier League safety although in their current prediction, it is Bournemouth, Nottingham Forest and Southampton who go down with Everton and Leicester only staying up on goal difference.
