Supercomputer gives bleakest Leeds United relegation forecast yet ahead of final day showdown

The Premier League relegation battle will come down to the final day of the season, with Burnley in control of their own fate after they clinched an all-important point against Aston Villa to climb out of the bottom three with one game left.

The 1-1 draw against Villa means the Clarets leapfrog Leeds, who now sit level on points with their relegation rivals. However, they do have a vastly worse goal difference, meaning that even a win for Leeds on the final day against Brentford away could still see Jesse Marsch's side relegated if Burnley beat Newcastle at Turf Moor.

Everton managed to secure their Premier League survival in miraculous circumstances, coming from 2-0 down at half-time to beat Crystal Palace 3-2 at Goodison Park. Had they lost, they would have been right amongst the scrap with Burnley and Leeds, with Frank Lampard's side travelling to north London to face Arsenal in their final game of the season.

The Toffees' improbable win now makes it a straight shootout between Leeds and Burnley for that final relegation spot. And sports forecasting website FiveThirtyEight makes Leeds United the overwhelming favourite to drop back down to the Championship.

FiveThirtyEight say Leeds have a 76% chance of being relegated on the final day of the season, meaning Burnley have a 24% chance of going down. That is the number crunchers' bleakest Leeds United forecast yet this season.

The White travel to the Brentford Community Stadium to take on a Brentford side in tremendous form. The Bees have picked up a whopping 22 points from a possible 30 since March and will be looking to finish off their debut Premier League campaign in style in front of their home fans.

However, Burnley's task of picking up points will not be an easy feat either, as they welcome former manager Eddie Howe's Newcastle to Turf Moor. The Magpies are flying right now, having effectively ended Arsenal's top-four challenge with a 2-0 home win in front of a raucous St James' Park on Monday night.

Once relegation favourites, Howe has helped Newcastle climb the table to security with nearly a month to spare, with a top 10 finish still a possibility. While there's every chance Brentford and Newcastle could be 'on the beach' both sides do still have something to play for, meaning Burnley and Leeds will both be in for a challenging Sunday in their final games of the Premier League season.
