A plane passenger opened an emergency hatch and fled across the runway in a bid to avoid being arrested.
He was on a Sun Country flight from Orlando when he opened the hatch, jumped off the wing, and fled across the tarmac, according to a source familiar with the incident.
The flight from Orlando landed shortly after 11pm at Minneapolis–Saint Paul International Airport.
Police were waiting for the suspect at the gate, waiting to board the plane to take the suspect into custody.
However, the suspect allegedly opened the emergency hatch, went onto the wing, jumped off and ran across the tarmac toward terminal 2, late on Sunday night.
Police located the suspect about 45 minutes later hiding in a LSG Sky Chef truck. - they were taken into custody by Airport Police.
It's unclear why the suspect was being sought by police.
The passenger was reportedly seated in the exit row and left the aircraft.
Sun Country Airlines said: "We take these incidents very seriously, and the crew called airport police who responded quickly. Fortunately, Passengers and crew are fine."
It comes as, elsewhere, another passenger forced their exit from an aircraft, resulting in the emergency slide to be deployed on the runway.
The flight leaving from Los Angeles International Airport and heading to Seattle was still on the tarmac and pushing away from the gate when the incident occurred, in March 2023.
Passenger Gillian Sheldon posted on Twitter: "Holy s***. Just as my flight was leaving the gate at LAX a man ran up from the back of the plane & opened the door.
"Flight attendants tried to stop him but he deployed the slide and jumped out."
Delta Airlines confirmed an incident involving an "unruly passenger" and said the man was first detained by Delta staff members before police arrived. Passengers were taken off the plane and moved to another aircraft so they could continue with their journeys
