Capcom just shared a new teaser trailer for Street Fighter 6. It gives fans a glimpse of upcoming character Mai Shiranui.
The fighter comes from the Fatal Fury and King of Fighters franchise. She is also the second-ever guest character following the release of Terry Bogard in September.
The latest trailer gives fans a look at Mai's introduction to Street Fighter 6's single-player World Tour Mode.
Street Fighter 6's New Character
Capcom also confirmed that the fighter will be coming in Season 2 and will become playable in early 2025. She is the third character being added to Street Fighter 6, with the first being M. Bison and the second being Terry.
The teaser trailer also shows the main World Tour protagonist walking into a new area that Mai specifies is Aokigahara, Japan.
This is also the character's stage from Fatal Fury Special but it is currently unclear if it would be a playable stage in Street Fighter 6, according to Event Hubs.
Mai will offer to show her new pupil all of the Shiranui techniques that they are able to handle before she silently appears and shows a graceful display of fire dancing. She is equipped with her trademark fans.
The upcoming character can also offer her potential pupil a demonstration of her techniques when several ninja suddenly appear and attack her. Mai is able to quickly and easily dispose of the thugs using her Shiranui techniques.
Mai Shiranui
She showcases fluid movement and fiery attacks as she laughs and tells the players that they are welcome to the Shiranui clan.
The original release window that Capcom gave for Mai was Winter 2025. The latest trailer also comes in both English and Japanese versions, Gematsu said.
There are some people who are voicing their concerns that Mai's model looks a little bit off in the newest trailer that Capcom revealed. But this was also something that was seen when Terry was first shown off in-game.
The trailer did not include actual in-game footage of Mai, which is customary in Capcom's reveal trailers for new characters. The company usually shows a first look and then later releases a more detailed gameplay breakdown close to the character's official launch.
Capcom's Winter 2025 release window for Mai suggests that she will arrive sometime before the end of March next year.
Some people believe that she could arrive in January or early February based on Street Fighter 6's current DLC release pattern, according to Esports Illustrated.
