A man accused of killing his mother, whose body was found in the garage of a Brisbane unit complex, has had his matter mentioned in court.

Wendy Sleeman's body was found in a car in a garage on Brisbane's north side on January 26, two days after the 61-year-old was reported missing from her Elanora home.

Her son, 30-year-old Slade Murdok, has been charged with murder, unlawful stalking, assault occasioning bodily harm, kidnapping and attempted arson.

He was arrested by specialist police last month, the day after Ms Sleeman disappeared from her home in Elanora on the Gold Coast.

Mr Murdok did not appear when his matter was briefly mentioned and proceedings were delayed when his lawyer did not arrive at Southport Magistrates Court on Tuesday.

"You would think they might remember this client," Magistrate Jane Bentley said.

The matter was adjourned until April.

Police prosecutor Andrew Smith told the court it could take investigators 12 months to prepare all of the forensic evidence.
