Six-year-old boy in 'floods of tears' after 'teenagers stole his birthday money'

A six-year-old boy was left in tears after teenagers stole the birthday money he had taken out to buy ice cream.

Becky Adamson's son Logan had received a £10 note in a card from his great-grandparents to celebrate his big day earlier this week.

The excited youngster had taken the cash with him when he went out to play football with his friends in the hopes that the local ice cream van would stop by.

However, little Logan was left crying and shaken after two teenage boys came up and took the money from him, his mum told Hull Live.

The schoolboy had been out playing on Caldane, Orchard Park, on Thursday (June 2), when his mum said two boys approached him and took the cash.

"My son turned six on June 2 and got a birthday card from his great nanna and grandad," said Becky. "Inside the card was a £10 note for him to spend as he liked.

"He was so happy with it. He kept calling it his 10 dollars," Becky said. "He went outside to play with his friends down our street as he wanted to play football, but he took his £10 outside, without me realising, as he wanted to buy an ice cream if the ice cream van came down."

The Hull mum posted on Facebook to warn other parents about the incident. Becky continued: "I had a knock on the door from someone down street who had my son with them in floods of tears and the person down the street told me some teenagers had taken the money out his hand and ran off with it."

She had not reported the theft to Humberside Police, due to the amount taken being small, but she said she had been told the names of the two young people who allegedly took the money. One good Samaritan offered to give Logan £10 so he wouldn't go without his birthday money, Becky added.

"I didn't accept as I felt I shouldn't take their money when it wasn't them who stole it," she said.
