During the warmups for the floor routine at Sunday's qualifying, star gymnast Simone Biles experienced pain in her calf, as revealed by her coach Cecile Landi. This discomfort led to the heavy taping observed around Biles' ankle during the event. Landi informed reporters that Biles had sensed 'a little something' in her calf, which had been an ongoing issue for a couple of weeks. Interestingly, Biles had previously felt the pain before Paris, but it had subsided.
Despite the discomfort, there was no consideration of Biles withdrawing from the competition. Landi reassured that Biles' condition improved as the event progressed, and by the time she participated in the uneven bars during the final rotation, she was feeling better. Landi expressed confidence that Biles would be able to continue competing in the Olympics without any concerns.
