Shopping centre in Salford forced to shut as Storm Eunice almost tears off roof

A shopping centre in Salford has been closed due to Storm Eunice.

Footage posted online by Lowrys Cafe Walkden shows the roof of the Walkden Shopping Centre almost coming off due to the strong winds.

The centre has posted on Facebook saying that they will be closed for the rest of the day due to 'safety reasons' after talking to the fire service.

The outdoor car park is still open.

On Facebook The Walkden Town Centre said: "Due to the current storm and high winds.

"After consulting with the fire service, we have made the decision to close the centre for the rest of the day for safety reasons.

"We will update as soon as we are able via Walkden Town Centre website and media channels.

"We thank you for your understanding and hope that you remain safe and well.

"The retail park is still open."
