While Hall of Fame cornerback Deion Sanders brought his bravado and experience to Colorado as coach, he also enabled his players—including his two sons—with the ability to wear his signature cleats on the field.
The elder Sanders, who made the Nike Air Diamond Turf shoe famous during his own playing career in the ’80s and ’90s, signed back with Nike in July after spending the last 14 years in partnership with rival Under Armour.
The first line of the popular shoe, which debuted back in 1993, is now being reignited following the stellar performances of his sons Shedeur and Shilo during Colorado’s stunning upset win as 20-point underdogs over ranked TCU last Saturday.
Shedeur Sanders notably wore his dad’s signature cleats, the Nike Air Diamond Turf 96s, during his record performance in the shocking upset victory.
Deion’s elder son Shilo, a Colorado defensive back, also wore his Dad’s famous shoe en-route to recording a game-high 10 tackles in helping to anchor the Buffalo defense.
On Tuesday, ESPN‘s Nick DePaula shared that Deion now also has three new pairs of his Nike DT React PEs in Colorado colors embroidered with “Prime” branding.
