Diablo 4 has all manner of quests and riddles to challenge your brawn and brain with, including the Secret of the Spring.
Diablo 4 hasn't been out too long, and even though it's the ideal entry for newcomers some of the quests and riddles found in the game are proving to be a pain. One such quest is the Secret of the Spring, which is one of those aforementioned tricky riddles, saying "Beacon of warmth in winter's embrace, patience rewarded by nature's own grace". Obviously that makes zero sense on its own, but thankfully we've figured this one out for you.
We've also figured out how to get a mount in Diablo 4, which we would recommend for this quest considering you'll need to be moving around a lot. If you haven't got the game yet, well one – what are you waiting for, and two – don't worry we've got a handy Diablo 4 buying guide right here.
How to find Secret of the Spring in Diablo 4
You'll be given the Secret of the Spring in the Kylslik Plateau which is to the north of the Cathedral of Light. To the south of the Forsaken Quarry dungeon, you'll see scaffolding to climb, at the top of the ladder you'll see a note with a blue exclamation mark.
Once you've interacted with the note you'll be given a marker on your map, with a riddle saying "Beacon of warmth in winter's embrace, patience rewarded by nature's own grace".
How to solve Secret of the Spring in Diablo 4
Once you head to the marker you'll find a spring, and a whole lot of nothing else. While the 'patience rewarded' part of the riddle may lead you to believe you need to just stand still at this spring and something will appear, the solution is actually simpler than that (well, not as simple as doing nothing, but it is quicker).
All you need to do is use the 'Wait' emote, which should be on your emote wheel. You can access the emote wheel by holding the following default keybinds:
- PC – E
- Controller – Up on the Dpad
If wait isn't on your emote wheel for whatever reason, open up the wheel and hit the 'Customize' button. It'll pull up a list of all your available emotes, and let you bind them to whatever part of the wheel you want (don't worry, the quest doesn't require it to be in a specific spot).
Once you smash that Wait button a chest will pop out of the ground and provide you with some sweet XP for all the blood, sweat, and tears this puzzle required.
