Screams filled the air at Scone Palace on Friday night marking the return of the frightfully entertaining Spirits of Scone.
Creatures of the dark haunted the historic grounds as freaked-out visitors were led on a path of terror and mayhem.
‘Jump scare’ actors from Create Events transformed the landscape into a playground of menacing ghouls and horror film scenes. In the dark, unwitting victims followed a route through the ancient gardens, passing through the Ghostly Woods and Zombie Graveyard meeting frightful characters - including cannibals and witches - along the way.
The reward at the end, for running the gauntlet, is live music and vans selling, food, treats and drinks in the shadow of the illuminated palace.
Performing on opening night, Friday, was ska band The Owls.
And on Saturday former Scone Palace worker Michael Cummings took to the stage.
Singer Michael worked at Scone Palace as Catering Supervisor between 2015 and 2019, however since that time he’s turned his passion for music into a career.
Originally from Perth, Michael performed some Hallowe’en songs, alongside original material from his debut EP ‘Home’ which is now streaming on YouTube and Soundcloud.
Organisers promise this year’s Spirits of Scone is the scariest yet.
In 2021 the event was a sold-out success, with over 8000 attending. This year even more are expected to flock to the palace.
Visitors have been warned “enter only if you dare” and, due to the fear factor, they have advised that the event is not suitable for young children under eight or those of a nervous disposition.
Heather McArthur, head of events at Scone Palace, said: “We’re excited to be bringing one of our most popular events back again this year.
“Spirits of Scone is certainly not for the faint-hearted. The grounds here at Scone Palace create the perfect scary atmosphere, with lots of dark corners, gravestones and wooded areas for ghouls and ghosts to hide.”
Spirits of Scone runs until October 31 and, to book tickets, see visit https://spiritsofscone.seetickets.com/
