Scots flight diverted as 'unruly passenger' removed from plane by police

A FLIGHT headed to Glasgow Prestwick Airport from Spain was forced to make a mid-flight diversion due to an “unruly passenger” who was removed from the plane.

The Ryanair flight from Alicante was diverted to Santander on Saturday after a passenger became disruptive onboard.

Flight attendants had to call for police to assist with the person as it had to make an unplanned landing to offload the unruly passenger.

The flight then continued on to Glasgow Prestwick.

A spokesperson for Ryanair has since apologised to any passengers for any inconvenience caused by mid-flight diversion and added that the matter is being dealt with by police.

They said: “This flight from Alicante to Glasgow Prestwick (December 28) diverted to Santander after a passenger became disruptive onboard.

“The crew called ahead for police assistance, who met the aircraft upon landing at Santander and offloaded this passenger before this flight continued to Glasgow Prestwick,” they said.

The added: “We sincerely apologise to passengers for any inconvenience caused due to this unruly passengers’ behaviour, which was beyond Ryanair’s control.

“This is now a matter for local police.”
