A new rumor suggests that Scarlett Johansson may be gearing up to star in the upcoming Jurassic World film. According to reports, Universal Pictures has extended an offer to the former Marvel star to headline the movie, which will be directed by Gareth Edwards.
Insider sources reveal that Johansson recently met with Edwards and producer Frank Marshall to discuss the potential role. While there is no confirmation yet on whether Johansson has accepted the offer, her schedule seems to align with the film's shooting date set for this summer.
If Johansson does sign on, it would mark a significant shift for the Jurassic World franchise. The script for the new film is being penned by original Jurassic Park writer David Koepp and promises a fresh storyline that does not include characters from previous installments.
Notably, Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard, who led the last three films, will not be returning for this installment. The same goes for original Jurassic Park stars Sam Neill, Laura Dern, and Jeff Goldblum. Instead, the film will introduce a new cast of characters.
Steven Spielberg will serve as an executive producer on the project, alongside Marshall. The fast-tracked production recently secured Gareth Edwards as the director after a previous negotiation with David Leitch fell through due to creative differences.
Edwards, known for his work on Godzilla and Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, impressed Spielberg and Marshall with his vision for the film. The next Jurassic World installment is expected to hit theaters on July 2, 2025.
Meanwhile, Scarlett Johansson has a busy schedule ahead with several upcoming projects, including Transformers: One, Bride, and Project Artemis.
