A lucky shopper bagged a bargain meal at Greggs - and helped saved the planet at the same time.
Bethan Shufflebotham bolted down to the low-budget food chain after hearing rave reviews about the magic goodie bags on the To Good To Go app.
The app partner with food shops and retailers across the country to sell left over food before it goes to waste towards the end of the working day.
To secure the offer she had to reserve the deal on the app and collect it at 5.15pm on the same day, The Manchester Evening News reports .
Bethan writes that she couldn't wait to see what was inside as the bag was "well filled".
Inside, she found a sealed cheese sandwich that was going out of date the following day, ideal for an on the go lunch.
And a chicken bake, which was still warm and was consumed almost instantly.
Chicken breast pieces in a creamy white sauce wrapped in puff pastry, this would usually cost around £1.45 depending on where you buy it.
Happy with the cash she saved already, she said she "struck gold" with the next two items from the Manchester branch.
Two large boxes filled the bottom of the bag, one filled with two sugar ring doughnuts, and another with four caramel custard filled doughnuts.
All of the items were in date, and usually, the caramel custard doughnuts are 95p each.
Other users of the app have praised Greggs for it well stocked bags, saying: "“Greggs magic bags are amazing!" and another bargain hunter adding "Greggs ones are the best, got one at the weekend and go do much in it for £2.60. It was supposed to be £8 with but it was way more”
She said she left feeling "pretty pleased" with her haul, and was able to brighten a friend’s day with a box of the doughnuts too.
