Samsung Unpacked Event Reveals New Wearables With Apple-Inspired Designs

Samsung to unveil new products, in Seoul

Samsung unveiled its latest wearable gadgets at the recent Unpacked event, drawing attention for the striking similarities to Apple's popular products. The Galaxy Watch Ultra, set to launch on July 24, bears a resemblance to the Apple Watch Ultra 2, which was introduced in September 2023. Both smartwatches feature titanium cases, orange-accented action buttons, and unique band styles.

While the Apple Watch Ultra 2 is priced at $800, the Galaxy Watch Ultra will retail for $650. Samsung's design strategy seems to target Android users who appreciate the Apple aesthetic but prefer the Android ecosystem. However, the close resemblance between the two devices may lead to confusion among consumers.

In response to inquiries, Samsung highlighted that the design choices for its new smartwatch prioritize comfort, usability, and durability across various scenarios. The company did not elaborate on the naming rationale behind the device.

Alongside the Galaxy Watch Ultra, Samsung also introduced the Galaxy Buds 3 Pro and Galaxy Buds 3. The revamped earbuds feature a design shift towards a form factor more akin to Apple AirPods, with the Galaxy Buds 3 Pro being stemless and available in silver or white color options.

Both the Galaxy Buds 3 Pro and the second-generation AirPods Pro are priced around $250. Samsung emphasized that the new earbuds' design was informed by statistical data to ensure a comfortable fit for a wide range of users.

While Samsung's latest offerings may draw comparisons to Apple products, the company has a history of innovation, notably with its foldable phones. At the Unpacked event, Samsung showcased new iterations of the Galaxy Z Fold and Z Flip, demonstrating a commitment to pushing technological boundaries.

It's worth noting that competition and inspiration between tech giants like Samsung and Apple are not uncommon, with each company borrowing ideas from the other over the years. Despite the similarities, Samsung continues to explore new avenues for product development and remains a key player in the tech industry.
