Ryanair flight from London Luton Airport forced to divert after 'brawl breaks out mid-air'

A pilot had to divert a Ryanair flight after a brawl involving seven people reportedly broke out while the plane was in the air.

Flight FR3511 left London Luton Airport at 8am and was supposed to land in Lanzarote, part of the Canary Islands, at 12.15pm.

But when the chaos broke out, it reportedly ended up landing in Portugal’s Algarve region at around 10.50am local time.

Portuguese police said seven passengers were involved in the brawl and one person was arrested.

No authorities have made any official comment but one "insider" quoted by The Mirror said all those involved were British.

The Standard has contacted Ryanair for comment.

It comes after a Ryanair passenger died on a flight from Malaga to the UK after they became ill on the plane and the pilot was forced to make an emergency landing in Bordeaux.

One passenger told Manchester Evening News after the incident last week that an announcement had asked if there was a doctor on board.

“We had to do an emergency landing in Bordeaux and a passenger next to us performed CPR the whole time that we were landing, but he unfortunately didn’t make it,” they said.

"People became stressed and needed water and air but there was not enough water for everyone. A woman then fainted due to the stress of the situation.

"There were also many distressed children on board who were very confused and upset. The pilot then announced we will not be continuing the flight and will have to stay overnight in Bordeaux."
