Ryanair has attacked Heathrow and added one million more seats to its schedule this winter, including popular destinations in Spain, Italy, Portugal, Morocco, Greece and France.
Following British Airway's announcement on Monday that it was cutting flights until March, Ryanair has pledged to run more services.
The low-cost Irish airline has announced an extra one million "low-fare seats" to its winter schedule to/from 20 UK airports including
The airline says that it expects to see its full year traffic grow from an original target of 165m to over 166.5m passengers this year.
The news comes as British Airways announced it would be cancelling more flights this winter to meet the extended cap set by Heathrow.
The airline announced it is chopping around 5,000 short-haul flights from European destinations from late October 2022 to March 2023. In addition, several hundred intercontinental flights will be scrapped.
BA said it will also cut a dozen round-trips per day - totalling 629 flights - until the end of October.
Rob Burgess, editor of frequent flyer website headforpoints.com, warned that the move could lead to price hikes.
"In terms of fares, there is little doubt that they will spike," he told The Mirror. "I paid £1,200 last week to fly my wife and daughter to Hamburg on BA after my wife's father suffered a health scare.
"We are paying £1,800 for four one-way seats back from Croatia on BA on 4 September, because it is the last day to get back before the schools return.
"Late September on BA throws up some crazy numbers. For example, £336 for a hand-baggage only BA economy flight to Palma from 20-23 September -dates I just randomly picked, well after the schools go back - is not normal."
