Richard Gere 's wife Alejandra Gere has shared photos of him celebrating her birthday and has told fans that their family are "mostly recovered" from recent health issues.
It was reported two weeks ago that the actor, 73, had been hospitalised with pneumonia whilst visiting Mexico with his wife Alejandra, 40, and their two young children.
Alejandra - who has been married to Richard since 2018 - has shared updates about his health on Instagram more recently, telling fans about his recovery from the infection.
She told her followers on the platform last week that her husband Richard - who is best known for films like Pretty Woman and Chicago - was "feeling much better".
Alejandra gave a subsequent update over the weekend. The post included photos of the married couple celebrating her birthday recently, having turned 40 almost two weeks ago.
Alejandra mentioned the family's health in the caption that accompanied the photos and suggested that they showed that Richard has now "mostly recovered".
She wrote: "What an amazing birthday! Thank you all my friends and family for [making] it so special". Alejandra then added: "Ps as you can see we are all mostly recovered."
One photo showed Richard and Alejandra in front of a birthday cake. Whilst another photo that featured in the post appeared to show the couple embraced in a hug.
Alejandra's previous updates included a post last week, in which she told her followers that Richard, herself and their children were "feeling much better" after health issues.
She said Richard and their youngest son James, two, had come down with pneumonia. Alejandra said herself and their eldest son Alexander, three, had fallen ill with sinusitis, which the NHS states is a common condition in which the lining of the sinuses becomes inflamed, and ear infections.
Alejandra wrote: "We came to Mexico to continue with our conservation project south of Puerto Vallarta, we all came not feeling well from NY, our youngest James and Richard got pneumonia and Alexander and I sinusitis and ear infections."
"Now we are all well and almost fully recovered," she further commented at the time. She added that Richard had wanted fans to know he was "feeling much better".
