Thanks to the Cleveland Browns making big offseason splashes again, the Cincinnati Bengals have fallen a bit under the radar in the AFC North and AFC they won outright last season.
Not that everyone is sleeping on the Bengals.
On his podcast, Rich Eisen had big problems with the Browns suddenly being favored over the Bengals in Super Bowl odds and the court of public opinion after their trade for Deshaun Watson.
Eisen’s commentary:
“On what planet do the Browns have a better chance to win the Super Bowl than the Bengals? …Are you serious? …They not only filled that glaring hole in free agency, they crushed filling it and there’s still a draft to come. What the hell? Honestly, just because it’s the Bengals? All of a sudden Deshaun Watson comes and the Browns are no longer the Browns?
Among the many factors, Eisen pointed out that not only did the team address its biggest weakness, it made the Super Bowl despite that and almost won it in Los Angeles as an away team.
The Bengals won’t complain about sitting as underdogs again, of course. The trio of additions to the offensive line only projects to make the team better. And with a player like Joe Burrow under center, no additions in the AFC will scare them much.
