Free-agent wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins is reportedly mulling over offers from two teams at the moment, the Tennessee Titans and New England Patriots.
The news comes from ESPN’s Dianna Russini during a segment on NFL Live in which she also noted that Hopkins is hoping to get more teams involved and that the process of him making a final decision could take some time.
“His sales job continues trying to get more teams interested at this point, because right now, we know that there are only two teams that have had DeAndre Hopkins come to their facility,” Russini said. “I was told by sources close to the situation that Hopkins is going over some of the offers from both of those teams, the Titans and the Patriots. He’s mulling over and trying to come up with a decision with what he wants to do.
“I was told to be very patient here,” she added. “This isn’t something that’s going to go down in the next 24 or 48 hours. It’s going to take some time for DeAndre Hopkins to come up with his final decision of where he wants to play.”
Recent reports have suggested Hopkins could take all the way until around training camp to make a decision, which gives ample time for more teams to get involved.
If it’s just the Titans and Patriots, I like the Titans’ chances because they have the better all-around team and quarterback, and Tennessee offers a better chance at postseason football in 2023 playing in the AFC South.
However, a serious Super Bowl contender jumping into the mix would push the Titans down the list, assuming the money from said team is right for Hopkins, who by all accounts doesn’t seem inclined to take a discount.
