Remote Scottish island 'dream job' offers £60k salary, golden beaches and dolphin spotting

A potential dream job opportunity is currently being advertised with the location on the stunning Isle of Eigg.

The Scots island offers breathtaking beaches and spectacular scenery, the perfect location for anyone looking to live a little more remotely. And a move may be on the cards for one lucky person as the tiny island primary school is on the hunt for a new head teacher.

The amazing job opportunity would see the candidate move to the five mile long and three mile wide island, home to just 110 people in total. Situated in the Inner Hebrides, the Isle of Eigg even generates its own electricity from solar, wind and water power.

The island's primary school has just seven pupils currently, but there are soon to be another five little ones joining the nursery.

And it is more than just a lovely wee job on offer as Eigg boasts some of the most beautiful setting with crystal clear waters and golden sand beaches.

The tiny isle is home to a range of incredible wildlife too, including dolphins, orcas and sunfish that can be spotted from the coast. Residents often can catch a glimpse of golden eagles and buzzards on land too.

The position is both full-time and permanent, offering a salary of £58,818 per year with a remote and distant island allowance, coming to over £5,000, as advertised on the Highland Council website.

The role will be shared with Muck Primary school - which also has just seven students currently enrolled. The head teacher role is also to be shared with the Muck Primary school which only has seven students currently enrolled as well.

The Isle of Eigg sits just 10 miles south of Skye alongside Muck, Rum and Canna.

The tiny school says it provides pupils "with a stimulating learning environment" using the "rich learning environment the island provides."

In a post about the school, the Highland Council website says: "The school has a supportive ethos that encourages achievement and celebrates success, encouraging children to become independent and confident."

If this sounds like the job for you then you best be quick, the closing date is set for May 29. Applicants should be registered with the General Teaching Council for Scotland.
