The Royal Air Force temporarily paused all non-essential flying of two types of aircraft due to a safety concern. The RAF were notified of a technical issue which may affect the operation of the ejector seats in both their Typhoon and Red Arrows aircraft.
Due to this issue, all non-essential flying was temporarily paused as a safety precaution on Friday, July 22, until they could better understand the situation and state of the aircraft. An RAF spokesperson has said: "After further detailed technical investigations we are pleased to announce that the RAF Red Arrows have been cleared to resume activity immediately.
"Non-essential flying for Typhoon remains paused as a temporary safety precaution. This will have no impact on our national security, without operational flight commitments to the UK and NATO being met." The temporary pausing of the Red Arrows led to their flypast being cancelled over the Farnborough Airshow in Buckinghamshire.
