The Northeast is currently experiencing chilly temperatures while the rest of the country is starting to warm up. In the Northeast, temperatures are barely reaching the 30s, with a current temperature of 35 degrees and winds blowing at eight miles per hour. Fortunately, there is no precipitation forecasted for the region.
Moving across the country, the northern plains and central US are dealing with unseasonably warm temperatures. In fact, these regions are experiencing temperatures 20 to 30 degrees above average, with the potential for record warm lows from the northwest to the upper Midwest.
Today's forecast for the Northeast indicates a relatively quiet day, aside from a clipper system that will be moving across the Ohio Valley. This system may bring a mixture of rain, sleet, freezing rain, and possibly some snow. However, the system is expected to move quickly and should clear out by tomorrow.
On the West Coast, however, a significant amount of precipitation is expected. There will be heavy rain and snowfall in the mountains of California and the Rockies. This weather system is expected to move across the country during the weekend, impacting various regions. Additionally, another round of rain and mountain snow is anticipated to arrive next week.
For now, those in the southern regions of the United States can enjoy warmer temperatures. Dallas is forecasted to reach a pleasant 74 degrees, while Fargo will be slightly cooler at 39 degrees. Billings will experience record-breaking temperatures, reaching 62 degrees today and a projected 61 degrees tomorrow. Chicago will have a chilly day with temperatures around 43 degrees, and New York will have a similar cool temperature of 40 degrees. Texas and New Orleans will be relatively warm compared to the rest of the country, with temperatures forecasted to reach 62 degrees.
While some people may enjoy the warmer weather, others may be hoping for snow. The possibility of snowfall, however, is not included in today's forecast. As we move forward, let's wait and see if any snowfall is in store for the region in the coming days.
