RBS online banking down leaving Scots unable to access money

ROYAL Bank of Scotland customers cannot access their accounts after a web outage caused connection issues with the bank’s app.

When trying to access their funds, customers using RBS are met with the following message on the app: “We’re sorry, some kind of error has occurred when trying to establish a connection between your device and ourselves”

When trying to access online banking via a web browser, customers are similarly told, “Sorry, this service is unavailable. Please try again later.”

Similar messages are being displayed on sister banks NatWest, and Ulster Bank’s respective apps.

Thousands of people have encountered issues with each of the banks, according to website outage checker DownDetector.

RBS in a statement said "We have been receiving reports that the online banking and mobile app are experiencing connection issues. We are currently looking into getting this resolved. Thanks so much for your patience. We're sorry for any inconvenience. Please try again later."

RBS has provided no timeframe for when the app and online banking will be back online.
