The Baltimore Ravens hired head coach John Harbaugh in 2008, hoping that he would have plenty of success over the course of his tenure. Now in 2022, Harbaugh has accumulated a 137-88 regular season record, with an 11-8 record in the playoffs with one Super Bowl championship.
When ranking each NFL head coach, Cody Benjamin of CBS Sports had high praise for Harbaugh, ranking him in “the head of the pack” category. He came in at No. 5 on the list, with Benjamin saying that he’s led a plethora of different types of teams during his time in Baltimore.
“The big notch on Harbaugh’s belt, besides his 2012 Super Bowl title and 64% hit rate for playoff seasons, is reinvention. He’s led pass-happy teams. He’s led run-heavy teams. He’s led defensive teams. Injuries really rocked the boat in 2021, so he’s due for a rebound. You just wonder if and when the next reinvention may come, considering the Ravens haven’t advanced past the Divisional Round in a decade and QB Lamar Jackson is looking to prove he’s more than just an electric regular-season star.”
Harbaugh has shifted into becoming a players coach over the past few seasons, with many enjoying the ability to play for him. He is a leader and someone who cares about his players, and works hard to put the organization in the best spot to be successful both on and off of the field. The Ravens made the right choice when they hired Harbaugh well-over a decade ago, and the head coach will look to continue his success in 2022.
