Rangers supporters issued 5 point warning for Red Star clash including two hour holdback

Rangers have told travelling fans they face a holdback of up to two hours in Red Star's Marakana Stadium among a five-point list of Serbia dos and don'ts.

The atmosphere at the Belgrade giants is famously ferocious and so supporters have been given clear instructions on how their away day will pan out.

With a 3-0 lead going into the second leg the Govan side are strong favourites to see the tie through and progress to the quarter-finals of the Europa League.

But it won't be that simple for those in the away end, who will be bussed to the stadium at a select meeting point and have also been advised against travelling alone, wearing Rangers colours around the capital city or staying out past 11pm.

Rangers informed fans on Twitter: "Following tonight’s UEFA security meeting, we can confirm that Serbian Police have advised that supporters coaches can collect fans from Student Square from 4pm.

"Additional coaches will be put on by local authorities to aid independent supporters in heading to the match.

"After the fixture, there will be a holdback of up to two hours and following this coaches will be available to take supporters back into the city centre.

"Additionally, Serbian Police advised strongly against Rangers Supporters travelling alone or in small groups and recommended against the wearing of colours throughout the city. They also strongly advise that supporters are off the streets by 11pm."
