Pups in the Park’s second event is set to be even better than the first, according to an expert involved with the festival.
The dog friendly weekend will take place Marlay Park this September and has a wide variety on offer for both pets and humans alike. Visitors can partake in the DSPCA’s dog show, complete the Regatta Great Dog Walk and enjoy a delicious range of food on offer from a variety of vendors.
Suzi Walsh is an animal behaviourist and will feature on a panel of experts as part of the two day festival. She previously participated in the first Pups in the Park event in Malahide Castle and Gardens and is confident the September event will be of great interest to Dublin’s dog lovers.

“I’ve high hopes that this festival will be even better than the last," said Suzy. "It’s an event pet lovers can come to because people are always looking for things to do with their dogs. There’s so many places and venues you can’t take dogs to so it’s great to have events like these."
Suzi explained that the most common concerns owners have about their dogs often relate to separation anxiety and how to manage the condition in pets.
The previous event in Malahide was well-spaced out and provided dogs with spaces to explore off the lead. The set up in Marlay Park is largely similar and provides animals with freedom to roam around a specific off leash area in the park. However, Suzi does caution that it may not be a suitable environment for dogs of a very nervous temperament.
“It may be overwhelming for a small number of dogs. It’s ideal for certain dogs, particularly a happy go lucky puppy, to experience socialising in. There were very few dogs on the day in Malahide that looked unhappy or caused any upset,” she reveals.
The event also received its seal of approval from boxing legend Kellie Harrington in recent days. The Olympic champion has partnered with the DSPCA to support the upcoming festival and promote animal welfare.
