Prestwich bar's cryptic three-year-old love letter promises all will be revealed today

A cryptic love letter discovered in a Bury bar three years ago has teased ‘all will be revealed’ today.

Cocktail bar Cuckoo on Bury New Road in Prestwich discovered the intriguing note three years ago after it was found by a customer in a book within the bar’s library.

The note, signed ‘with love’ by an elusive ‘M & M’, promises that ‘all will be revealed on this very day 22/01/2022’.

The card also contained the following instructions: “If found, please do not throw this card away, put it pride of place in a frame”.

The letter then proceeded to give a few little clues as to who could have written it.

“To Cuckoo,” the letter stated. “We love you so much, you helped us both get through so many issues.

“We will hopefully be here on 22/01/2022 where you can celebrate our love and happiness.

"All will be revealed on this very day 22/01/2022.

"With love M & M"

The note also included a cinema ticket to a screening of Fifty Shades Freed at the Manchester Printworks Cinema on February 9, 2018.

With Saturday (January 22) fast approaching, the bar shared the letter on their Facebook page.

The post said: “This very random note was found by a customer in a book (in the library) three years ago... just one week to go.”

Customers were already contemplating what could be in store - and what it could possibly even mean.

One person stated: "Colour me intrigued!"

While another suspected: "It's got to be their wedding day!"

“This is very intriguing and I can’t wait to find out,” another said.

One person quipped: “The 50 shades of grey ticket brings a whole new angle of intrigue to this. And a smidge of concern.”

Cuckoo Tweeted today (Saturday, January 22): "It’s the big day... better milk this before the inevitable anti-climax."

They also posted an Instagram story with the note, which said: "Come on M&M, don't let us down."

Today the bar posted an update on Facebook which revealed staff were 'very scared' about what the purported anticlimax, or otherwise, would be.

It said: "Returning a library book they nicked? Who are M&M? And why would they not want to come back for four years? Have they actually been here this entire time? The tension’s too much, we’re just heading straight to the bar

"Very excited and also very, very scared… "
