US President Joe Biden confirmed on Saturday that he has not yet spoken to Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, despite indicating earlier in the week that a conversation would take place. When asked by reporters if he had communicated with the Israeli leader, President Biden responded with a simple 'No'.
Earlier in the week, President Biden had informed the press that he planned to engage in discussions with Netanyahu 'relatively soon', particularly in light of the escalating tensions in the Middle East.
During the same interaction on the South Lawn, President Biden was questioned about his message to the families of hostages being held in Gaza, as the one-year anniversary of the October 7 attack in Israel approaches. In response, the President mentioned that he would be reaching out to 'a bunch of them'.
